Hello, April!

(Okay, yes, April started last week but I did my March wrap up then. So just go with it).

It’s April. It’s Spring.

And it snowed on Day 2.

Early April snow isn’t unheard of. My parents have often spoken about how it snowed on my birthday once when I was really little (and I’m an April Fool’s baby). They say once we reach April 15th, it’s generally considered safe that we won’t have any more snow. But with the way the weather has been going, that now seems like a double dog dare!

I hope spring comes soon though. We had a taste of it on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. And then again on Wednesday, just two days after the snow. Then it got chilly again. I hate the up and down like this. So do my sinuses.

We have certainly gotten a lot of rain–April showers as they say. Hopefully they bring us May flowers and warmer weather. I just want spring. I love spring almost as much as I love autumn.

And you know how much I love autumn.

I’m sick and tired of my jacket and my warm clothing. It’s time for lighter outfits and for some shopping. Actually, I need to go shopping anyway—I need some nice clothes for Paris! And work. I should get some more clothes for work as well.

I want to open my window again and air out my room. There’s been a few warm days I’ve been able to do that but winter always returned. So too did the stale winter air. Let’s get some fresh air in there!

And I’d like to drive home with my windows open a few times too. It’ll be nice, even if my hair will look a mess by the time I’m done.

I want to see the leaves come back to the trees and the grass to become green again. I want to see flowers and plants spring back to life.

(Sorry for the pun).

So, please, Mother Nature, send us Spring. I miss it.

She laid on her couch, wrapped up in a soft blanket as she watched the rain hit the bay window in her living room. The pitter-patter of the drops against the glass was the soundtrack for her afternoon and she sighed, content.

The door opened and closed, sending a cool breeze through the house. She raised her head as she heard someone kick off their shoes, muttering under their breath. “I feel like a drowned rat,” her husband called out.

“All you need is some dry clothes,” she replied, not bothering to look up. She remained focused on the window.

He walked into the room and kissed her forehead. It sent a shiver through her body as his icy skin brushed against hers. “You need something warm,” she said.

March Madness

It is March.

It is almost spring.

It can’t come soon enough. This winter has been tough. The polar vortex. Snowstorm after snowstorm. Cabin fever has set in. To borrow and adapt from the musical “Mame”: We need a little spring right now.

I love the seasons where there is a change, like the fall. Spring brings warmer temperatures. The leaves come back. So do the bugs. (Not my favorite part). The days get longer. And then the ice cream truck comes back. Don’t lie—you know you get excited when you hear that familiar song.

I’m looking forward to spring. And just because my birthday is in the spring. Winking smile To not feeling cold even when the heater is on. And before it gets too hot to function away from an air conditioner as well. Hopefully, I’ll get a lot of writing done! Smile

I also hope to get some inspiration. I usually do when the seasons change. We’ll see.

Continuing my series, what’s in store for Kate and Matt this month? Find out!

A soft breeze ruffled Kate’s hair as they walked along. Stormy was once again asleep in her basket but this time, Matt carried it. The cat had taken to the man and it did ease her burden.

Kate closed her eyes, enjoying the next breeze that blew by. “It’s so beautiful out.”

“I know. Though it didn’t feel cold yesterday.”

Opening the Window…

Winter has gone on forever, it seems. But some warm weather finally came our way around Easter. And Easter Friday, I could open my bedroom window.

I love the first time I can open my bedroom window as it’s one of the harbingers of spring. The warm breeze blowing my door shut. Fresh air blowing away the stale winter air. The smell of fresh air filling my room and lingering. Oh, it’s great.

I love the spring. Who doesn’t? Okay, maybe some people don’t like the spring for various reasons, allergies being chief among them.

So why do I love the spring? Many reasons, the first being that I’m a spring baby. Born on April Fool’s Day, around Easter. (That’s my favorite holiday as well).
