Autumn Plans (and Hopes)

Well, it’s September. We’re about a week and a half away from the first day of autumn.

As usual, this summer flew by. We had some warm days and some rainy days. I wish I had gotten into the pool a bit more often but I did spend time outside. Got the mosquito bites to prove it too.

However, on September 2nd, I woke up and realized I was okay that it was almost autumn. I came to the realization that autumn was generally my season, not summer, and it was time to fully embrace it.

So I am.

Yesterday, my family and I went to see “Hello, Dolly” on Broadway. Better Midler was not playing Dolly Levi but Donna Murphy was. I love her anyway so I didn’t care. More on that to come in a later entry.

On the 23rd of the this month, my parish will have our first picnic in years. (The place we used to go got sold and turned into a housing development). It should be a fun day, all together as a church family.

October, though, is really going to be hopping.

Comic Con is that first weekend. I only have a Friday ticket (I had been hoping for a Friday and Saturday ticket but they sold out Saturday) but I plan to make the most of it. My friend, sister and I will go in that morning and spend time in the exhibit hall. I hope to hop to artist’s alley to buy another print from an artist I like (Amy Mebberson) as I’m in the process of decorating my room (more on that in a later entry). I am also hoping for either Peter Capaldi’s or Pearl Mackie’s autograph. (Both, if I’m lucky!)

Then that evening will see a special Once Upon a Time panel with Adam Horowitz, Eddy Kitsis and LANA PARRILLA! Since that day is also the same day Once Upon a Time premieres, I have a feeling they will screen the season premiere for us and answer some questions about the upcoming season.

I’m also dressing up as the Evil Queen from Once Upon a Time so that should be just as fun!

Two weeks after Comic Con is OUATNJ, a Once Upon a Time convention in New Jersey. I have tickets for the whole weekend, including autograph and picture tickets. And I know a bunch of my friends are going to be there so we can all meet up. I’m looking to stay at the hotel rather than driving back and forth, so it should definitely be even more fun!

And the week after that is Halloween. This year I’m determined to celebrate and have already had a conversation with my friends about what we want to do. We’ll focus more on it after Comic Con, but we might go down to Asbury again.

I’m not sure if I want to wear the Robin Hood costume I didn’t get to wear last year or recycle the Evil Queen cosplay. I guess I’ll have to see how Comic Con goes.

Not long after Halloween (only a few days, actually) is my friend’s birthday. She doesn’t know what she wants to do yet but I’m sure it’ll be fun.

And then it’ll be the holiday season!

But for now, let’s enjoy autumn.
