Let’s see how my 2013 NaNoWriMo project is doing, shall we?

I’m fast approaching 50,000 words. And I think I may hit it earlier than I did last year with “Fairest of Them All.” But I think this may be a bit longer than 50,000 words. Somewhere between 55k and 60k, I bet.

Why? Different reasons. But mostly, I’m nowhere near my climax. Since it’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, I’m sure you all can figure out what that is. And I know how I’m going to apply it to the real world. It’s just writing it now.

But I know this will require massive rewrites. As I said, this has been a bit difficult to write. More difficult than I thought, for a myriad of reasons. Especially when it came to Rosalie’s career. She started as a chef then went to working in retail, trying to get a fashion career going. Then halfway through writing it, I rethought that. So I have to change the beginning. Well, everything actually. But I didn’t want to switch route halfway through the story as I’m writing it.

What’s the change? I’m removing her from retail. Instead, she’s going to be working in a fashion house. But she’s unable to climb the ladder. So I’m also going to change my antagonist’s motivations. Which I’ve been considering for a long time. I wasn’t too pleased with them. So I’m rejiggering them.

Lots to do!
