This is a Working Title

The hardest part of writing a story may strike people as odd. But sometimes, it’s deciding what to call the damn thing.

Yes, dear readers, many writers have trouble naming their stories.

Not always. Sometimes, the title is the first thing that comes to us. Sometimes, the title just comes to you as you’re writing. There may be a phrase that you write that strikes you. You may hear a phrase in a movie or a TV show, maybe read it in another book. One of my fan fiction titles comes from the Bible. I also am partial to song titles and lyrics.

Other times, the title eludes you. You stare at it, you bang your head, you do whatever you can to try and name it.

My story is still unfinished. There really is no need for a title just yet. But it’s really weird not having a name to call it. To refer to it as “My novel” is okay, but it usually brings the follow up question of “What’s it called?”

Then, something came to me. “Through the Mists.” Am I married to that title? No, I’m not. That’s why they call them “working titles.” If it changes, I’ll let you know.
